Researcher, Musical Representations Team, IRCAM (Ircam/CNRS/UPMC)
With a diploma in mathematics from the University of Pavia and in piano from the Novara Conservatory in Italy, Moreno Andreatta is a doctor in computational musicology. His thesis subject, on algebraic methods in music and musicology of the 20th century (EHESS/IRCAM), is one he further developed for his “Habilitation à diriger des recherches” in mathematics at IRCAM and the université de Strasbourg. A CNRS researcher in IRCAM’s Musical Representations team (STMS - Ircam/CNRS/UPMC), Moreno is also a founding member of the Journal of Mathematics and Music, the Society for Mathematics and Computation in Music (SMCM)’s official journal.
He is currently the vice-president of the SMCM. Co-director of two collections "Musique/Sciences" (published by IRCAM/Delatour France, with Jean-Michel Bardez) and "Computational Music Science" (published by Springer, with Guerino Mazzola), he is also coordinator of the UPMC’s ATIAM Master’s program at IRCAM (Acoustique, Traitement du signal et Informatique Appliqués à la Musique); a program co-organized with the LAM and Télécom ParisTech.
